D’anciens gramophones, véritables antiquités datant du début du XXe siècle (1901-1905), ont été transformés/hackés afin de devenir des stations d’écoute numérique de contenus sonores et musicaux. La manivelle, permettant à l’origine de remonter un moteur à ressort, sert maintenant de sélection du contenu via un écran numérique et, aussi, à faire tourner un disque 78 tours agrémenté d’un design graphique sur mesure. Le cornet sert toujours d’amplification sonore, via l’intégration astucieuse de haut-parleurs. Un des gramophones a une allure un peu spéciale et permet l’écoute du contenu en stéréo via 2 cornets.
Le projet Gramophone/Communauté sur Scène se déploit dans l’aire publique intérieure du centre SANAAQ, lieu qui accueille les usagers et qui relie les différents espaces du centre. Le projet Gramophone est donc un des premiers éléments dans le centre qui met en contact l’usager avec une proposition sonore et musicale, et par ce fait il incarne certaines signatures annoncées du centre. Ce projet comporte 4 gramophones sur socle, 3 en mode mono et 1 en mode stéréo, tous conçus, fabriqués et programmés par Serge Maheu. Les contenus sonores seront renouvellés périodiquement.

Old gramophones, true antiques dating from the beginning of the 20th century (1901-1905), have been transformed/hacked to become digital listening stations for sound and musical content. The crank, originally used to wind up a spring-loaded motor, now serves to select content via a digital screen and also to spin a 78 rpm record decorated with a custom graphic design. The horn still serves as sound amplification, via the integration of specific speakers. One of the gramophones has a rather unusual look and allows listening to the content in stereo via 2 horns.
The Gramophone/Communauté sur Scène project is deployed in the interior public area of the SANAAQ center, a place that welcomes users and connects the different spaces of the center. The Gramophone project is therefore one of the first elements in the center that connects the user with a sound and musical proposal, and by this fact it embodies some of the announced signatures of the center. This project includes 4 gramophones on plinth, 3 in mono mode and 1 in stereo mode, all designed, manufactured and programmed by Serge Maheu. The sound content will be renewed periodically.
